Katherine Sauter (Sautter)

LIND, Washington - The death of Mrs. Katherine Sauter marks the passing of another of Lind's early residents. Mrs. Sauter was born in Russia. Upon coming to the states she settled first in South Dakota and later on to a farm at Warden. She and her husband Andrew came to Lind more than 20 years ago. Mr. Sauter died 13 years ago, and the widow has made her home with a grandson, Fred Rennick. Old age was the cause of her death which came at the age of 85 years and three months.

None of her 13 children survive her, nine having died during infancy and the others, Mrs. Reinhard Krueger, Mrs. Rennick, Christina Sauter and John Sauter died after maturity. She has 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her sister and two brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the German Baptist church with the Rev. E. Schoenleber of Odessa officiating. Interment was a the Lind cemetery beside the body of her husband.

Katherine Sautter was the wife of Andrew Sautter. Sauter is an earlier spelling of the family name. Her son Johann (John) spelled the name "Sautter".
